Spinal Interest Group

The Spinal Interest Group is convened by Össur to facilitate education and collaboration in spinal orthotics care. This year's event was held on the 2 & 3 March 2018 with 60 delegates descending upon The OAKS in Melbourne’s CBD from a wide range of clinics throughout the country.

The Program

The program included presentations from Spinal Surgeon Mr Greg Etherington on decision making around spinal # classification and treatment, Orthotist Leah McLachlan on considerations in Paediatric Spinal Management and Researcher Dr Helen Ackland on trends in c-spine trauma presentations. Practical sessions delivered by the team from The Alfred Orthotics Department covered Halo fitting and complication management, whilst small group case studies allowed groups to compare and contrast their spinal treatment protocols and prescription options.

Thank you to all the facilities and speakers that contributed content and to all of the delegates for their engagement and contribution to the discussions which were another highlight of the program.
